Ralf S. Engelschall is a 37-year old Computer Scientist, Unix Developer
and Artist living with his wife and two children in Munich, Germany.
He has 23 years of computing and 20 years of Unix and Networking
experience. His main interests are in
Internet Networking, Unix Operating Systems, Formal Language Parsing and
Efficient Data Structures and Algorithms.
He is the author of the book
Apache Desktop Reference, author of over
a dozen IT magazine articles and author of three dozen popular Open
Source software components, including the popular
Apache mod_rewrite and
mod_ssl extensions, the
GNU Portable Threads and
GNU Portable Shell Tool,
the
OSSP Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) library
and, last but not least, the
OpenPKG cross-platform multiple-instance Unix
software packaging facility.
Beside being the founder of
OpenSSL,
OpenPKG and
OSSP, since over
a decade he is an active developer in the
Apache,
FreeBSD and
GNU
projects. He is a member of
USENIX Association,
Gesellschaft für
Informatik (GI) and
OpenPKG Foundation. Additionally, he is founder and
president of the association
OpenPKG Foundation e.V. and founder, owner
and managing director of the corporation
OpenPKG GmbH.
Currently he is Managing Director of the OpenPKG GmbH and working in the Research & Development area.
